Peace Lit Fam!!
Today is my birthday and I couldn't be more ecstatic! I'm super proud of what I accomplished this year including opening Noire Reading Room and launching our Lit + Care Subscription. I'm happy to be living my dream by curating this space with all of you by highlighting the works of Black Women and QTPOC in an affirming and engaging way. Please check out our online store to buy books directly from our on-hand inventory, including gift cards which are great gifts!!
A Zora Neale Hurston STAN, I thought it was only fitting to get a quote on my cake that spoke to where I am in my life, "There are years that ask questions, and there are years that answer-Zora". I can't tell you today if I am questioning or answering, but I can recognize and appreciate the phases of either circumstance.
This week as I prepared subscriptions for delivery across the city, I was able to meditate more deeply on the theme "It's Just A Phase". Phases indicate that shifts are coming and that change is inevitable. Just like the phases of the moon and natures' seasons our cosmic matter is changing too. Octavia E. Butler said it best, in Parable of The Sower " All that you touch you change. All that you change, changes you. The only lasting truth is change". Parable of The Sower was not included in August's box, but it is available in our shop.
I'm currently navigating phases and changes in my life and I want to share my book picks that I'm reading or listening to on libro.fm that are companions to me no matter the year or phase!!! This is my syllabus for my sanity, I hope you enjoy it too!!!
